Vegan Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie Recipe

This peanut butter banana smoothie comes together in minutes. With only five ingredients, this smoothie makes for the perfect quick breakfast. If you’re in a rush, pour your peanut butter smoothie into a tumbler and go.

It’s a delicious drink. A healthy alternative to drinks loaded with sugar. Plus, it’s free! No more last-minute trips to the smoothie bar. This smoothie recipe saves you time. You’ll love the hint of spice you get from this beverage.

Better yet, if you’re tired of making smoothies with almond butter, this smoothie is a fantastic option if you want to switch things up.

Peanut butter is an excellent source of protein. Likewise, if you’ve been searching for smoothie recipes without yogurt, this is the perfect drink for you. Most smoothie recipes use Greek yogurt. However, you can enjoy this dairy-free option instead. This smoothie uses more than a tablespoon of peanut butter. This amount of peanut butter compensates for the absence of Greek yogurt and produces a creamy smoothie. This rich banana smoothie has a mild sweetness that goes well with the nutty flavor. By far, this is the easiest smoothie. Since there’s minimal prep, you can make this banana smoothie recipe in minutes.

Tips For Success: This recipe has not been tested with natural peanut butter. Organic peanut butter tends to be thicker and the oil separates after the first use. Typically, stirring organic peanut butter is enough to bring it back together. You may not get the same results when using natural or organic peanut butter.

Smoothie Ingredients

  • Banana – Frozen banana is used instead of ice cubes in this recipe. Frozen bananas enhance the peanut butter banana flavor.
  • Peanut Butter -I opted for creamy peanut butter. Making this recipe with chunky peanut butter may have a gritty texture.
  • Oat Milk –Instead of almond milk, I made the smoothie with oat milk. Of course, you can make smoothies with almond milk, but it may interfere with the taste. An almond can have an earthy or woody taste for some. Avoid substituting the milk for unsweetened almond milk. If you do this, you’ll lose some of that rich peanut butter flavor.
  • Cinnamon – In addition to peanuts, cinnamon adds spice for a more well-rounded flavor.
  • Nutmeg – Nutmeg has a mixture of sweet and nutty flavors, which pairs well with peanut butter.
  • Honey – Honey adds a slight sweetness that creates a nice smoothie. What’s more, the mild sweetness is great for those who dislike sugary drinks. Vanilla extract is a common choice for giving food flavor. But I think honey is an underrated ingredient.

Variations

One of my favorite things about this smoothie is that it’s easy to customize. You can tailor it to your preference by adding an extra ingredient. Make a variation of this peanut butter banana smoothie recipe by adding ingredients like:

  • protein powder
  • chocolate collagen peptides
  • cocoa powder
  • chia seeds

When using protein powder, check the label to see what it says. Serving size will vary. A little goes a long way with these variations. For instance, when using cocoa powder, start with a few teaspoons. Taste and adjust if necessary.
